Roofing & Exterior Repair in Livingston and the Lake Livingston Area

Roof leaks, missing shingles, flashing, siding and masonry repaired so your home stays tight against the weather.

Keep the weather on the outside

A house's exterior has one main job: keep water out. A few missing shingles, a gap in the flashing, a cracked siding board or crumbling mortar is all it takes for rain to find its way in, and in a place with as much heavy rain as East Texas, it usually does.

Onalaska Builders repairs roofs, siding and masonry with our own crews. Because we also handle rotten wood, drywall and gutters, we can fix the damage water leaves behind as well as the spot where it got in.

After a storm

What to check after a storm

High winds, heavy rain and falling limbs are part of life among the pines. After a storm, walk around the house, from the ground, and look for:

  • Shingles missing, lifted or lying in the yard
  • Limbs on the roof or damage where they hit
  • Bent or loose flashing around chimneys, vents and walls
  • Cracked, loose or missing siding
  • Gutters pulled away or bent. See gutter services.
  • New water stains on ceilings or walls inside

Stay off the roof. It is easy to miss damage from the ground, but a wet or damaged roof is dangerous to walk. If you are filing an insurance claim, photograph the damage and follow your insurance company's process.

How it connects

Exterior problems rarely stay outside

Water that gets past the roof or siding keeps going. Common chains of damage include:

  • A roof leak that stains the ceiling, soaks insulation and softens drywall. See drywall repair.
  • Overflowing gutters that rot the fascia and soffits. See rotten wood replacement.
  • Damaged siding that lets water reach the sheathing and framing behind it.
  • Gaps around windows and doors that rot sills and trim. See window and door repair.
  • Water pooling at the foundation from runoff, which can contribute to movement. See drainage solutions.

A lasting repair fixes where the water got in and what it damaged along the way. Because the same crews handle the roof, siding and masonry as well as the interior damage behind them, the work can be planned as one job instead of separate visits from different trades, with one conversation about what happened and what it will take to put right.

Once a year

A simple yearly exterior check

A quick look around the house once a year catches most problems while they are still small:

  1. Roof: look from the ground for missing, curled or damaged shingles and debris in valleys. See roof repair.
  2. Gutters: make sure they are clear and draining away from the house.
  3. Trim and fascia: press on painted wood for soft spots.
  4. Siding: look for cracks, gaps, warping and loose pieces. See siding repair.
  5. Brick and steps: check for crumbling mortar, loose bricks and cracks. See masonry repair.
  6. Trees: note limbs hanging over the roof. See landscaping.

We handle roofing and exterior repairs within about 35 miles of Onalaska, including Livingston, Point Blank, Coldspring, Shepherd, Groveton, Trinity, Huntsville, Cleveland and Willis. See our full service area.
