How we handle the information you share with us through this website.
Last updated: October 12, 2026
This policy explains what information Onalaska Builders, LLC ("Onalaska Builders", "we", "us") collects through onalaskabuilders.com (the "website"), how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies only to this website, not to other sites we link to.
Information you give us
When you send our estimate form, we collect:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address, if you choose to provide it
- The type of project
- The town or ZIP code where the work is
- Any project details you type in
If you call or email us, we receive whatever information you share in that conversation.
Information collected automatically
When you send the estimate form, we also record:
- Your IP address and your browser's user-agent string
- The date and time of the request and which form on the website it came from
To protect the form from spam, we also keep a one-way hashed version of your IP address with a timestamp. These entries are removed after 24 hours. A hashed IP address is not the same as anonymous data, so we treat it as personal information.
Like most websites, the servers that host this website may keep standard technical logs of visits, such as IP addresses, pages requested and browser type.
Website analytics
Every page of this website uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC, to measure how the site is used. It collects:
- The pages you view, when, and how long you stay
- How you arrived, such as a search engine, a link or a direct visit
- Your device type, browser and screen size
- Your approximate location, usually the city or region, worked out from your IP address. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses
- When an estimate request is sent successfully, a simple event recording that it happened. Your name, phone number, email address and message are never sent to Google.
This information is processed by Google on our behalf and is used to improve the website. Google\'s own handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
Cookies
Pages that show the estimate form, and the confirmation page you see after sending it, set one cookie, named ob_session. It is needed to protect the form from automated spam and to keep what you typed if something needs correcting. It is not used for tracking or advertising, and it expires when you close your browser. Other pages do not set it.
Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this website. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by a code, which can last up to two years, and it gives your browser a randomly generated ID so returning visits are not counted twice.
We do not use advertising, remarketing or social media tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics to identify you personally. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
How we use your information
- To respond to your request and contact you about your project by phone, text message or email
- To prepare estimates and carry out work you ask us to do
- To keep records of the requests we receive
- To protect the website and the form from spam and abuse
- To see how the website is used, so we can improve it
- To meet legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to run our business and this website:
- Our email providers. Estimate requests are emailed from the website's own mailbox, hosted by our website host, to our business email account, which is hosted by an email service provider.
- Our web developer. A copy of each estimate request is also emailed to the developer who maintains this website, so problems with the form can be found and fixed. The developer does not use it for any other purpose.
- Google Analytics, which receives the website usage information described above. It does not receive anything you type into the estimate form.
- Our website host, which stores the website and the records described above on its servers.
- When required by law, or to protect our rights, our customers or others.
How long we keep it
We keep estimate requests for as long as we need them to respond to you and for our business records. Spam-protection entries are removed after 24 hours. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).
How we protect it
The records created by the form are stored in a location that is not accessible from the web, and the website uses reasonable technical measures to protect them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it by contacting us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. You can also choose not to use the form and call us instead.
You can opt out of website analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Links to other websites
This website links to other sites, such as our Facebook page. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle information.
