TV Mounting, Hanging & Furniture Assembly in the Lake Livingston Area
Flat-screen TVs, curtain rods and wall art hung level and secure, and flat-pack furniture put together right.
Hung straight, anchored right
Mounting a TV or hanging a heavy mirror looks simple until you are holding it against the wall trying to find a stud. Getting it level, at the right height and fastened into something solid is what keeps it there.
Onalaska Builders handles mounting, hanging and assembly with our own crews.
We handle:
- Flat-screen TV mounting
- Curtain rods
- Wall art and mirrors
- Furniture assembly
TV mounting
Getting a wall-mounted TV right
- Solid anchoring. TV mounts should be fastened into framing or suitable anchors for the wall type. Drywall alone will not hold a TV.
- Viewing height. Too high is the most common mistake. Think about where you sit and where your eyes land.
- The right mount. Fixed, tilting and full-motion mounts suit different rooms and viewing angles.
- Over a fireplace. Height and heat are both worth considering before choosing that spot.
- Cords and power. Plan where the TV will plug in. Adding a new outlet behind a TV is electrical work that needs a licensed electrician.
Hanging
Curtain rods, mirrors and wall art
Heavy mirrors, large art and long curtain rods need the same care as a TV: the right hardware for the wall and the weight, fastened level and in the right place.
- Curtain rods mounted high and wide can make windows look larger.
- Groupings of art are easier to get right with a plan before the first hole.
- Floating shelves need solid support to avoid sagging.
Hanging things on older walls sometimes turns up damaged drywall or plaster. See drywall repair.
Assembly
Furniture assembly
Flat-pack furniture comes with a bag of hardware and a lot of steps. We assemble beds, dressers, desks, shelving and more, and tall pieces such as bookcases and dressers should be anchored to the wall to prevent tipping, which matters most in homes with children. See childproofing.
