Can my house support a second-story addition?
It depends on whether the existing structure and foundation can carry the added load. That needs to be evaluated for your specific home before a second story is planned.
Should I add on or build a detached garage?
An attached garage ties into the house so you can walk inside out of the weather. A detached garage can be placed where access and drainage work best and keeps workshop noise away from living space.
