Timber-framed pavilions
A timber-framed pavilion uses heavy wood posts and beams to hold up a roof, with open sides that let the breeze through. It suits:

If you plan to cook under it or add lighting and fans, plan for ventilation and power early.
Carports
Carport or garage?
- A carport is a roof on posts with open sides. It protects vehicles from sun, rain and falling limbs, costs less than an enclosed building and is easy to pull in and out of.
- A garage is fully enclosed and lockable, with room for storage and a workshop.
