Outdoor wood and yards take a beating here. Long, hot summers dry out and fade wood, heavy rain soaks it, and humidity keeps it damp. Pine needles and leaves pile up on decks and in beds, and grass and weeds grow fast through a long growing season.
That shapes how outdoor spaces should be planned:
- Choose materials for the conditions. Composite decking needs less upkeep; wood needs regular sealing. See decks and patios.

It also pays to plan the pieces together. A deck, a patio beside it and plantings to soften the edges usually come out better, and fit the property more naturally, when they are laid out at the same time rather than added one by one over several years.

Outdoor living on a lake lot
On a lakefront property, the outdoor spaces are often the main event. Decks are placed for the view and patios for gathering. Sloped lots may need stairs, multi-level decks or grading, and anything close to the shoreline can come with its own rules, so it is worth checking early.

We build and repair decks and patios, restore weathered decks, install fences and gates, and provide lawn care and landscaping maintenance.
Should I choose wood or low-maintenance materials?
Wood looks natural and costs less up front but needs regular staining or sealing in East Texas weather. Composite decking costs more initially but needs less upkeep.
Do you mow large acreage?
Our lawn care service covers regular mowing of maintained yards. Overgrown acreage and pasture are handled by our bush hogging service.
